It works well, I wish it was more self explanatory about how far away from the surface it needs to be to get an accurate reading.

Not much to say except it works well and it's easy to use.
Works great. You can hold down the trigger for continuous readings as you move the target, release to hold the last reading. I specifically picked this model since it creates a circular laser dot pattern on the target, but it's dimmer than just a single laser dot. The circle does remind you that the further away you are from the target, the larger your measured temperature area is (or error in actual sample point). But in a bright room, the circle can be difficult to see at 20' away. A single brighter laser dot is much more visible for longer distances. Nothing against this unit because I thought I wanted the circle.
I bought this to point at my home AC vents to verify the AC is working as expected. It helped me figure out that my home AC thermostat was basically maintaining 70 degrees despite setting it as high as 75.
Then I used it to check my the temperature of the contents of my fridge - 45 degrees F (a little high according to Google). And my freezer - 1 degree F (good to go!)
Most recently I used it on a friend's front door. Why? Because it's a black steel door with a glass storm door. In the morning the sun shines on it and makes it hot. How hot? 187 degrees!!!
